This is my third acoustic guitar and first archtop. The back, sides and neck are cherry, the soundboard is douglas fir, the fretboard and bridge are jatoba, the tailpiece is beech and the peghead overlay is cherry burl. I used Robert Benedetto’s book for the design. The lower bout is 17″ wide, the scale length is 25″ and the nut width is 1-3/4″. The soundboard wood came from Home Depot and it took a couple of trips and some hunting through the 2×12 stacks to find a board with tight grain oriented in the correct direction. The finish is Tru Oil. The scale length is 25″, the nut width is 1-3/4″ and the lower bout is 17″. This guitar developed a crack near the centerline of the soundboard last winter as it was hanging on the wall, due to very low humidity. I have repaired the crack.
