Banjo #27, custom 11″ walnut flush fret-sold

This is a 24″ scale banjo which can be tuned to G or A.  It was a custom build and my first time making a flush fret banjo, though I have done flush frets on resonator guitars before. The fretboard is ebony and the fret markers are hop-hornbeam.  There are pearl front and side dots.  The pot has standard nickel plated hardware and a 1/4″ round brass tone hoop.  The walnut in the neck has some curl on both sides up near the nut.  I bookmatched the outer layers of the neck from a piece of walnut that had a knot in the middle of one end, and the peghead plane angled out enough to miss the knot but still passed close enough to the knot to get some of the interesting grain pattern around it.  I had trouble with glare from the finish in the photos, I need to learn more about how to take photos of things that are dark and shiny.
