This dulcimer was made from cherry with a red pine soundboard in December 2015. The cherry on the dulcimer back is two-toned because cherry has white sapwood and red heartwood. The cherry and red pine came from the sawmill on the farm where I work and was cut from trees from the property. The nut and bridge are jatoba, which is a very hard wood. The scale length is 27″. The finish is Tru Oil, which builds to a higher shine than the other oils I used to use and which can be easily sanded out and reapplied in the event that the finish gets scratched. I will gladly make custom dulcimers to order if desired.
