January was a productive month this year with three batches of banjos. Each batch had one custom banjo and some stock banjos. First was banjo #425, a custom 12″ walnut slot head banjo with curly maple trim that was ordered in December.
#426 and 427 were stock banjos and are shown on the Banjos page. Banjo #428 is a 12″ walnut with internal resonator and a tunneled 5th string.
#429 and 430 are stock banjos shown on the Banjos page, and #431 is a walnut 12″ 5+1 banjo with a Dobson tone ring and a Shubb capo. This is the second one I have installed lately, after a gap of several years.
The last custom project for the month was a cherry fretless neck for an old Weymann pot.
February is starting off with a 12″ walnut stock banjo, and after that if I have custom orders I will fill them, and if not I can make another archtop guitar bodied octave mandolin to replace the one that was sold in December, and some more fiddles. I’ve been working for the last few days on some birch bark veneering for the museum where I usually volunteer a few hours a week. Usually I work there on site, but this job is easier to do in the shop where I have more tools.
